Top 12 WordPress Plugins for Business Blogs
Out of the hundreds of WordPress plugins for business blogs out there, I found some that I cannot do without. I use each of these plugin almost religiously whenever developing a new blog. Not only are they simple to setup, but they are effective and easy to customize.

Akismet. Spam control plugin comes automatically installed in WordPress to protect your site from spam. It is free for personal blogs and only $5 per month for businesses. If you own multiple websites there is a price discount. In order to set it up, go to teh Akismet site for an API key. Once you get a key, log into your blog and enter the key into the dashboard.
Broken Link Checker. Checks your blog for broken links and missing images and notifies you on the dashboard if any are found. This may not be as necessary right away, but over time links get deleted or broke.
Category Order. Allows you to easily reorder your categories the way you want via drag and drop. Without this plugin, you have no control within WordPress to change the default order of your categories.
My Page Order. Like the Category Order add-on this plugin lets you change the default order.
Quick Adsense. This plug-in provides flexible options for placing any types of ads or affiliate links within a blog. You can place rotate up to 10 different ads in multiple places.
SEO Friendly Images. Automatically adds alt and title attributes to all your images. Improves traffic from search results and makes them W3C/xHTML valid as well.
Subscribe 2. Easily allow people to subscribe to receive e-mail updates whenever you add a new post to your blog.
UpPrev. Displays a flyout box with a link to the previous post from the same category when the reader reaches a certain spot in the post.. The idea came from the NY Times and it may become outdated in the future. But currently, I love it. It is less obtrustive than having pop-up ads, yet encourages visitors to stay and read another post.
Installing WordPress Plugins for Business Blogs
Most WordPress plugins for business blogs do not require much customization in order for it to look like a natural part of your website. At most, you may need to know a little css or PHP. After you download one of these widgets, installation only requires a few steps.
Log into your WordPress blog then go to the Plugins link in the left sidebar. Click on the “Add New” and upload the plugin. Most of the time, the control panel for widgets is located in the Settings section, however My Categories can be found until the Posts section, My Pages in the Pages Section, and the WordPress SEO creates its own section called SEO.
